planning the trip

We are looking into the logistics of taking the trans siberian from Beijing to Moscow. We are starting to look in to the logistics, work and school vacation permitting.

Robert turns 12 this year, and I turn 40, so thought this was a good way before either of us goes into silent, angry, smelly phase of our life.

Dad and son, days together on a train... good idea?

The key question will be how to be keep our gadgets charged?

  1. An excellent idea - plenty to look back on in the angry silent phase. Here's an idea - don't take any gadgets ... except a digital camera, and of course a Kindle, oh and maybe a GPS, well guess you need a Blackberry to keep your blog up to date as well ... hmmm I see what you mean.

  2. Fantastic idea!
Me and each of the three eldest have now taken 2nightsplusaday-trip with me, using the Caledonian Sleeper to visit Aberdeen or Edinburgh and environs for a day. Fantastic bonding, and so good when (with lots of little ones) time and attention are always being split so many ways.
Callum and I have also trained together down to Futuroscope (near Poiters, in France) using Eurostar and TGV and played in the theme park for two days. Superb.
Next trip planned is for me to take either just Callum or oldest two (?) on train-and-ferry run to Athens. My cousin lives and works there.

Nothing quite as much fun as your expedition, though!!! Need a bit more time and disposable income to achieve that one!
I shall plan, though, especially seeing as we have decided to eschew the aeroplane as part of our living more sustainable lifestyles...

Hope your trip goes brill. I trust we can all follow your progress via this blog?...
